Sarah served as a 2020-21 Public Policy Fellow with Leadership for Educational Equity (LEE), where she worked in Strategy and Innovation for the Los Angeles Unified School District to support the development of the Local Control and Accountability Plan (LCAP), a strategic plan that describes the District’s use of $5.2B in state funds, aimed to increase or improve services for English learners, foster youth and low-income students.

Since December 2017, Sarah has been an Adjunct Professor of Special Education at National Louis University’s Chicago campus, teaching in-person and online graduate-level courses that support students in building learning environments that are accessible to and engage all Pre-K to young adult students with disabilities.

In 2015–2016, Sarah was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship to teach English in Bogotá, Colombia at ÚNICA University (Institución Universitaria Colombo Americana) where she implemented an innovative English language course curriculum for teachers-in-training as lead professor for advanced students, developed university program innovations and oversaw peer tutoring program using “train-the-trainer” frameworks.

From 2013–2015, Sarah worked at KIPP NYC’s College Prep High School in the South Bronx where she designed & taught Special Education Teacher Support Services and Spanish classes daily for students with special needs or who require at-risk support, as well as led extracurricular social skills group for students with autism, pushed-in daily to general education courses, managed a caseload of 25 students with special needs and founded Glee Club. From 2011-2013, she taught 6th-8th grade Special Education as a Teach For America New York corps member.
